Restoring these and fully reopening for public use became our first main philanthropic project in Gibraltar requiring significant financial and time contribution. Not only physically challenging, these Steps are especially near and dear to my heart as back in 2004, when I first moved full time to Gibraltar and chose to try them out, both the Mediterranean Steps and Charles V Wall were both in severe disrepair and not safe to take on. To call it a spectacular hike would be an understatement. I find happiness on top of the Rock of Gibraltar, a place I always feel great. After a few years of Covid and then some minor injuries, I once again navigated the steps to Charles V Wall before criss-crossing the Mediterranean Steps that overlook the Strait of Gibraltar and the Mediterranean Sea.
